Driver appreciation week

 (No one tell Lori that I need my writing edited.)  To date, I have spent as many nights in a room as I have in the truck bunk. This will change all too soon I'm sure.  Honestly, I have gotten some good sleep in the bunk.  This may be due to the CPAP machine but my trainer likes it cool in the truck so I'm sure that helps.  

I was not on the clock for as many hours but voluntarily helped work on a wrecked pull back (glass trailer with a pullback canvas) that a driver lost three packs or stoces of glass (no one calls them stoces here in Laurinburg).  I came close to working 24 hours. We had just talked to a Maverick driver before he left Pilot while we pulled in for fuel.  We had just got caught in traffic after fueling only to find that it was his accident causing the backup.  He had lost glass out the side of his tarp all over the looping exit.  I heard talk of the "what ifs" he had lost the glass on the highway.  It could have killed someone at a higher speed.  It was definitely a huge lesson for me.  ALWAYS check your load and secure it right.  He admitted his shortcut.  He didn't remove the extensions from the A-frames.  

Not sure he's going to be around for the cookout being give at most Maverick terminals this week.  All week some sponsor is grilling burgers and dogs for the drivers for "Driver Appreciation Week"  It makes me miss walking the mile-long track with the guys back in Little Rock.  I have pounded more cheeseburgers than I have walked miles this week.  Somethings got to give! I hope it's not my belt.
This was the only picture I took.  This part is NOT supposed to be in the back of the trailer.  When closed it goes to the other end.  We had to pull this part off and trash it in the junkyard.

Driving Spirit

Two of my days of driving behind the wheel were over 550 miles.  After driving over 1000 miles in two days I put in my first 630 or more miles in for one day.  It was this Friday and I could have fallen into poor self-talk of victimhood because I didn't get paid for the miles.  I got training pay. Maverick has to have the most intense, in-depth, complete and longest training available to new truck drivers. I'm still at least 10 days out from running on my own. I have to finish classes in Little Rock and then work a week or more in a glass factory. Is it worth it k me my money? Stay tuned!

Crossing America

I say that I am having fun?  Well I am in the momments that I am driving.  So when I am not my mind travels into the future, like where is this job really taking me? Then into the past as I ask am I running away from something just as much as I am running to a better income?  Well, when I am alone I process thoughts.  Well, I'm alone for days at a time and I process so many thoughts.  Such as "is this enough work to make me happy?"  Well, I am happy but I not only miss my little girl but I must want to be missed and welcomed home.   I will say this, I am able to influence my daughter more with the emails then I did when I was home.  I have her attention when she reads my emails and she is able to share with me her feelings about her drawings and her processes is drawings and the technologies she desires to have to draw her creations with.  In the past week alove she has gone to wanting her laptop fixed, her iPad fixed, a new drawing tabl...
